Saying Goodbye, Saying Hello!

It is with a sad heart that we announce one of our long-time piano teachers, Sara Jenkins, is stepping down from teaching at KCRB at the end of December.  Sara is wanting more family time during this season of life, but please know she will miss all her students very much!  We have LOVED having Sara and her amazing presence at KCRB.
Sara’s Monday night students will be taught by KCRB’s own Michael English.  Mike teaches guitar with us on Tuesdays, and he is also an exceptional pianist who is excited to get to teach piano with us!  Mike has performed professionally on piano in a variety of styles and his love of music is infectious.  Mike is patient and thorough and we’re pleased for him to begin working with some of our Monday piano students.
Sara’s Tuesday night students will be taught by Karla Crawford, who has been teaching piano since 1991 and has her degree in Piano Performance from Central Bible College, with a minor in conducting and flute.  She is skilled in many music styles and excited to work with the students!  In Karla’s own words, “I love people and working with children.  It’s very rewarding to have interactions that grow others into their talents and encourage the arts.  I believe that has been a huge factor in my own life accomplishments and attitudes.  Music is something you will always take with you no matter where you go.  Music has shaped me, taught me discipline, grown my mind, and soothed my soul many times.”

Please let us know if you have any questions about the teacher transition, or there’s anything we can do to assist you/your student during the process!

Text Box: Student of the Month – Evan Crandall
Evan Crandall has been a KCRB piano student for three years, first with Karren, and currently with Sara. He loves to play and is always ready for a challenge. Way to go, Evan, an your consistent progress and great music making! Here’s a little about Evan:
Age and grade: 8 years old, 2nd grade.
What do you like about piano? It has the more notes than any other instrument, and I like hearing the notes.
Favorite song learned so far: Linus & Lucy
Musical goals: Play piano for 10 years! Or maybe 5.
Advice for new musicians: It takes awhile to get used to a new instrument. If it’s hard at first, don’t worry. You’ll get it in a few tries.
