Christmas and the holidays are here!  Check out a few gift ideas below for the musician in your life:

Gift Ideas for Musicians

Music Stand – you would be amazed at what a difference having a good music stand makes for an effective practice session.  Not having to balance your music on a case or prop it up on a too-low chair is awesome!  Check out the Vekkia stand on Amazon – it’s affordable, portable, and sturdy.
Bags/Cases – Guitars need a bag or case for their instrument; drummers need a stick bag;  pianists, vocalist, and all musicians can appreciate a bag for their music, pencils, etc.!
LESSONS! –  have someone in your life that would like to learn an instrument?  Purchase them a few months of lessons to try it out!

Student of the Month – Maxwell Schippers-Brown

Maxwell has been a KCRB student for over 9 years!!!  (Check out our Instagram for a “then and now” of Maxwell) Maxwell started lessons on piano before switching to drums.  He’s had several teachers at KCRB and is now studying with Nick Baker.  Nick chose Maxwell for this month’s feature because he has been very focused in lessons and continues to take on more challenging material, practicing until he
gets it right!  Awesome work, Maxwell!
Here’s our interview with Maxwell:

Why did you start taking drum lessons? It was a family tradition to play Rock Band (video game) and I would play the drums.  I was three when I started and my family would unplug the controller and let me go crazy.  That’s why I gravitated to percussion.
What do you like about music?  It’s a method of expression that has reached me in a way that no other methods of expression have.
What do you want to be when you grow up?  My dream job is a being a radio DJ.  I could fall back on app development.
And advice for other student musicians?  Don’t forget to practice.  Keep revisiting the material.  “Practice until you can’t not get it right.”
