Hello KCRB Students!

In honor of the new year, I’d like to invite our students to take part in some musical goal setting—what are some things you’d be excited to accomplish this year in your musical life?  Some ideas:

  • Learning a challenging song you love
  • Trying out a new genre
  • Playing music with other people
  • Performing in a new setting (school talent show, family holiday gathering, jam session)
  • Writing your own song

As teachers, we love it when we can help a student accomplish specific goals!  Write your goals down and bring them to your lessons.  We can help figure out a reasonable timeline to accomplish them and what steps will get you there.  What will bring you lots of joy in your music this year?  Let’s do it!

Student of the Month – Everett Knoblauch

Student of the Month – Everett Knoblauch

Everett has been taking drum lessons at KCRB for six months, with teacher Jake Howard.  Jake chose Everett as student of the month because Everett always has tons of fun and a great attitude while drumming!  Here’s a little more about him:

Age and school: 9, Mission Trails, 3rd Grade

What’s your favorite song you’ve learned so far?  7 Nation Army

What do you want to be when you grow up?  A video game creator

Who are your favorite super heroes?  Iron Man. Spiderman, Batman

Any advice for other musicians starting out?

When performing, don’t think about anything else except for what you need to do.  Don’t worry about what’s going on around you.

Congratulations, Everett!  Keep hitting those drums!
